The Noble Street Bridge is closed over 13th Street, between Broad and 12th streets, in Center City due to safety concerns, according to Philadelphia officials.

Philadelphia’s Department of Streets Commissioner Kristin Del Rossi announced Wednesday, Aug. 14, that the Bridge will be closed indefinitely. The closure was deemed necessary due to deficient portions of steel support beams that are unable to safely carry the legal loads, officials said.

Warning signage will be installed along Broad and Noble Streets to alert travelers. There will be no detour posted for this closure, according to officials.

The Noble Street roadway will also be blocked at both ends of the bridge. Two-way local traffic will be permitted on Noble Street approaching the bridge both from Broad and 12th streets.

The Rail Park will remain open throughout this closure, and the public will have access to the trail and park system.

Pedestrians and bicyclists on Noble Street are directed to cross over 13th Street in the Rail Park as opposed to the roadway portion of the bridge, according to officials.

There is no current projection for the duration of this closure at this time.
