Northeast schoolteacher slept with her special ed student, 14: cops

A Philadelphia Schools District special education teacher was arrested Wednesday and charged with sleeping with one of her 14-year-old learning-disabled students, police said.

Stephanie Amato, 30, was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault and indecent exposure, the D.A.’s office announced on Wednesday.

Amato, an 8th grade Special Education teacher at Ethan Allen School in Northeast Philadelphia.

“Ms. Amato engaged in “consensual” sex with one of her 14 year old male students at her home and in her car on multiple occasions between March and April of this year,” the D.A.’s office said in a statement announcing the charges.

Amato turned herself in to the Special Victims Unit on Wednesday.

Bail was set at $125,000 and she will return to court on June 24, prosecutors said.
