The Eagles’ offensive line has been extremely vulnerable against the blitz, giving up 11 sacks in two weeks. Many say that’s the main reason why Michael Vick was installed as the new starting quarterback.
Vick’s unique ability to escape and keep plays alive is a good band-aid for an offensive line that just doesn’t seem to be on the same page.
“I don’t think that’s the reason why,” right tackle Winston Justice said. “But I support the decision.”
But Justice admitted that the line was having problems with their footwork and moving in the same direction.
“We need to get better. We need to make that correction right now,” he said.
A few lockers away, however, center Mike Mc-Glynn actually took offense to the implication.
“I disagree. I don’t think it has anything to do with it,” McGlynn said. “I don’t know how we’re taking the hit for the quarterback switch, either. Mike [Vick] went in and the guy did a lot of good things.”
McGlynn told reporters to watch the game film, adding that one sack came on a screen play. When asked if the O-line was having any issues, McGlynn said, “No.”
