Any possible hope that Odell Beckham Jr. would be plying his trade as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles seems to be gone for now.
Fox’s Jay Glazer reported on Sunday morning that the enigmatic wide receiver wants to make it work in Cleveland with the Browns — stimying any trade talks for the time being.
Beckham has had a rocky road with the Browns since he was traded by the New York Giants prior to the 2019 season. A slow start with the team saw him reportedly demand a trade last season and the subsequent rumors follow him to the spring of 2020 in which there were rumblings of a potential deal with the Minnesota Vikings.
Such controversy tends to be commonplace with Beckham, who has had trouble staying out of the headlines for the wrong reasons since he was drafted by the Giants in 2014. Regardless, he’s one of the more explosive wide receivers in the NFL
Now in his seventh season, his 16-game averages are off the charts at 98 receptions for 1,373 yards, and 10 touchdowns.
Such a talent would have been a much-needed shot in the arm for an Eagles team that is lacking in the wide-receiver department — especially when it comes to a bona fide No. 1 target for Carson Wentz.
With Alshon Jeffery still working his way back from injury and Marquise Goodwin opting out for the season, the Eagles have been left with DeSean Jackson, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Greg Ward, and Deontay Burnett.
Entering their Week 3 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Eagles’ passing offense ranked 27th in the league in yards gained. Only three teams have fewer than their two passing touchdowns, as well.
