Officer injured after being hit by drunk driver

An officer is injured after being hit by a drunk driver in North Philadelphia.

The
incident happened at 8:20 p.m. on the 2100 block of West Lehigh Avenue.
A patrol officer was driving westbound on Lehigh on his way to an alarm.

A woman, 44, driving a gray Dodge Stratus eastbound on Lehigh made
a sharp left trying to get into a parking lot and instead slammed into the
patrol car, hitting the driver’s side door.

The police officer was rushed to Temple University Hospital with
head, neck, back and knee pain and is listed in stable condition. It is
unknown if he will be admitted.

The woman was arrested and will be charged with Driving Under the Influence.
