One dead in morning shooting

MOUNT AIRY – Police are searching for the gunman who killed a Montgomery County man in front of a day care Thursday morning.

The shooting happened around 8:40 a.m. on Wadsworth Avenue near Pickering. Epharant Epperson, 25, was gunned down inside a green Pontiac. Witnesses said his girlfriend had just dropped a child off at a day care center on the busy commercial strip, but police would not confirm that.

Epperson, of Oreland, was pronounced dead at Albert Einstein Medical Center. A man was taken into custody, but later released. No suspects have been identified.
