Over last four seasons, no team has spent more cash than Eagles

The Eagles have spent the most money in the form of cash than any other NFL franchise since 2013 —the year the Chip Kelly regime began.

In all, $613,928,000 has been dolled out by Philadelphia and all they have to show for it in 2016 is a 5-7 record and a 2-7 mark in their last nine games.

The Eagles have been one of the busiest franchises around, spending boatloads of money on players like Byron Maxwell and DeMarco Murray one season, and shipping them away the next. This instability in the personnel department is likely the explanation for the high expenditure.

Even with trades of highly paid Kelly signees, the Eagles spent over $59 million on free agents this offseason and followed it up with high contract extensions for players like Fletcher Cox, Vinny Curry, Zach Ertz and others.

NFL teams, according to the NFLPA, are required to spend at least 89 percent of the salary cap in cash over a four year period, as was laid out in the most recent CBA. The Raiders are the only team not over the requirement, though it is very close.

The next highest-spending team was the Broncos, who dished out just over $587 million — more than $26 million less than Philadelphia.
