Pa. judge will face trial for dismissing her own parking tickets

A Lancaster city district judge will stand trial to face charges that she dismissed her own parking tickets, the Lancaster Intelligencer-Journal reported Friday.

A judge reportedly ordered Kelly Ballentine, 44, to be tried on twelve criminal counts in Lancaster County Court after a lengthy preliminary hearing.

Ballentine allegedly wrote “dismissed” and her initials on three tickets issued to her BMW in 2010. The state attorney general charged her Feb. 13 with six counts of
tampering with public records, three counts of restricted activities due
to a conflict of interest and three counts of obstruction of the
administration of law after a citizen tip prompted an investigation into her activity.

Ballentine was put on indefinite paid leave and released on $25,000 unsecured
bail. She will likely be tried later this year and could face anywhere from probation to one to three months per charge, according to the report.
