PENNSYLVANIA – The second-highest rate for murders involving black victims is in the Keystone State, according to a study released yesterday by the Violence Policy Center, which found that for every 100,000 blacks living in Pennsylvania, 31 were murdered in 2008.
The state with the highest number of black victims of murder is Missouri, which had a rate of nearly 40 for every 100,000, the study said.
The total number of black murder victims in Pennsylvania that year was 449, according to the study, which used statistics compiled annually by the FBI.
