A York County woman was gored to death by a deer Friday evening, according to a report from Fox 43 news.
The victim, identified yesterday as 30-year-old Natalie Shaffer, reportedly ran into a deer pen located on her family’s Lower Windsor Township property after her dog somehow made its way inside. Once there, Shaffer was apparently attacked by one of the deer.
Authorities were called to the home on the 100 block of Forge Hill Road shortly before 6 p.m. and pronounced the woman dead from severe trauma.
“This deer was unpredictable,” her father Stanley Shaffer told the channel. “And she got gored by the deer and unfortunately, she’s now with the Lord.”
He said that the deer was “in rut,” citing mating season, which has been associated with increased aggression in bucks.
According to the report, the family keeps multiple deer and elk on their land.
