Dry January doers and those just looking for some spirited picks in the non-alcoholic realm can join a Sensible Sips Happy Hour at one of the city’s premier vino spots, Panorama.
Located inside the Penns View Hotel, this bar and restaurant will host the activation on Thursday, Jan. 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with tickets ($65) including assorted chef-selected hors d’oeuvres, n/a wines and a zero proof Aperol Spritz.
This new happy hour comes from a partnership with the New Jersey-based Gem Life + Bar, a booze-free bottle shop and wellness pop-up owned by Drew Davis. While there, visitors will also be able to chat with Davis and William Eccleston to ask questions, and learn more about sensible sipping.
Davis and Eccleston have collaborated on a “Low ALC-itude” n/a wine flight and several zero-proof cocktails that will be available at Panorama for all of January and beyond for those who can’t make the event as well, according to a release.
“We’ve seen a recent uptick in interest in de-alcoholized wines as alternatives to the n/a cocktail trends,” said Eccleston in a statement. “So, in addition to partnering with Drew Davis on this fun January wellness event, we also collaborated on a n/a wine flight with some pleasantly complex offerings and additional cocktails that we can add to our menus more permanently. There are so many non-drinkers in Philadelphia and beyond and we look forward to creating a more inclusive beverage menu for all to enjoy.”
So, Panorama, a site typically known for housing a Guinness World Record custom-built wine keeper (offering over 120 wines on tap) will now offer the n/a wine flight and zero-proof cocktails.
Highlights span the Aperol Spritz made with Roots Divino n/a Aperitif Rosso and Sparkling Airen “La Mancha” Vinada from Spain, the Negroni boasting Ritual n/a gin, Roots Divino n/a Aperitif Rosso & Bianco, and an orange twist on a rock, and the Blood Orange Margarita made with Little Saints n/a St mezcal, blood orange nectar, agave, and lime over an ice-salted rim.
