Burnie Fraim, 42, and Jessica Benales, 24, were officially charged this week with endangering the welfare of a child for an attack by pet ferrets on their infant.
Three pet ferrets broke out of a cage on Jan. 22 and devoured part of the 1-month-old girl’s face while it was strapped into a car seat on the floor of the house, police said.
The ferret ate the baby’s nose, lip and cheek. The baby survived after treatment at Children’s Hospital ofPhiladelphia.
Fraim and Benales, who had four other young children, were reportedly upstairs at the time of the attack.
