A 2-year-old foundwandering in LOVE Park just before midnight on Friday as temperatures dippedis now in the city’s custody.
Police said no formal charges have yet been filed against the baby’s parents, a 27-year-old female and a 24-year-old male, who were also staying in LOVE Park and said the baby wandered off.
“The parents stated that they had been kicked out of where they were staying last night and were spending the night in Love Park,” the police report states. “The parents had fallen asleep and the 2 year old boy wandered off.”
Police transported the baby to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for evaluation after finding it around 11:50 p.m. wearing agreen long sleeve shirt, black running pants with a white stripe down the sides, a diaper, and no shoes or socks.
The parents called police shortly after the infant was recovered to report it missing. They were sleeping in a different area of the park from where it was found.
The baby is in the custody of the Department of Human Services, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said.
