In an effort to keep its prices on parwith private parking garages and encourage more turnover, the Philadelphia Parking Authority will raise the prices on many of its garages and lots, some jumping by a dollar or two for the first hour. Monthly rates are expected to increase by about $5 to $10 dollars.
Initially introduced by ousted PPA chief Vince Fenerty, the board approved the rate hikes on Thursday and they will go into effect on Nov. 1.
“Costs to operate these facilities, the cost to maintain them, continue to escalate,” acting chief Rick Dickson toldCBS Philly. “We have to make sure they’re self-funding.
