East Passyunk to host new Passeggiata event series

It’s the perfect summer to “Passeggiata” on East Passyunk—aka indulge in a new weekly activation unique to the area.

Passyunk’s latest event series will take place every Thursday evening beginning this week (July 11) and run throughout the sunny season until Aug. 31. What the Passeggiata features is a list of area bars and restaurants offering special happy hour deals, and a sidewalk market from 5 to 7 p.m.

The word passeggiata is “a leisurely walk or stroll, especially one taken in the evening,” referencing the tradition of taking such walks in Italy, a release notes. This new activation is meant to mimic the European activity, but make it Philly-sized.

While strolling around the picturesque area of the city, Philadelphians can indulge in $5 beers, $6 wines, and $7 cocktails, along with $7 small bites from spots like Barcelona Wine Bar, The Bottle Shop, Cartesian Brewing, Ember & Ash, Flannel, Human Robot Süd, Juana Tamale, Laurel, Le Virtu and more (a full list can be found online.)

At the same time, retailers and other businesses will adorn the sidewalk in front of their venues with specials and sales to encourage visitors to casually explore the Avenue in the way you would see in an Italian promenade, the release also notes.

Participating shops and services span August Moon, Carolyn Zinni, Civil Stock General Store, Creations by Coppola, Delicious Sweets, Doggie Style Pets, Eastern Pass Tattoo Co., Filitalia International History of Italian Immigration Museum, Frame Fatale and plenty more. And as a special treat for our furry friends, Doggie Style Pets will offer a complimentary pup cup non-dairy ice cream treat during the event.

A full list of everything being offered and more detailed information on East Passyunk’s Passeggiata can be found online at visiteastpassyunk.com. More shops, specials and events will be added at the summer goes on.
