It’s a whole new kind of space jam.

Nine-time All-Star and star forward for the Philadelphia 76ers Paul George and the Paul George Foundation, in partnership with the TGR Learning Lab, are sending five Philly-area students and one chaperone from the city to space camp this summer.

The selected students, dubbed the “PG 8 Space Crew,” represent PA Virtual Charter School, School of the Future, West Catholic Preparatory High School, The Science Leadership Academy at Beeber, and Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast High School. These students have proven themselves to be exceptional by showing remarkable dedication to their scholastic pursuits.

Through this journey, George and his foundation hope to encourage the next generation to reach for new heights with confidence, providing opportunities that may not otherwise be available.

“Don’t tell me the sky’s the limit when there are footprints on the moon,” said Sixers star Paul George in a release. “I always wanted to be in the NBA. That’s the sky. Now that I am an All-Star and working to become a champion, for me, that’s the footprints on the moon.”

The crew will blast off this Saturday, June 14, for an unforgettable journey through space and time at Advanced Space Academy, returning the following Friday, June 20.

The Paul George Foundation continued to show its dedication to encouraging students to participate in STEM initiatives and pursue STEM careers, dating back to 2011, when the “PG 13 Space Crew” first launched, and beyond.

Driven to promote health, well-being, and education for youth and families in underserved communities, the Paul George Foundation works to expand opportunities in various areas, including support, awareness, and education for stroke survivors and their families, encouraging educational opportunities, exploring the outdoors through sports, and much more. The foundation operates with the ultimate goal of creating a significant social and community impact.
