A 55-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash Saturday morning while crossing North Broad Street, police said.
Brian Howard Lloyd, according to a preliminary investigation, was walking at around 6 a.m. in the crosswalk at Broad and Poplar streets, near the Met, in North Philadelphia when he was struck by a black SUV, authorities said.
The impact sent Lloyd onto another vehicle behind the SUV, investigators said. Medics declared him dead at the scene.
Police said the SUV, which was described as possibly a Porsche, continued northbound on Broad. No arrests have been made as of Sunday.
Lloyd’s family told 6ABC that he was a father of three who was temporarily living in a shelter and making plans to turn his life around.
“He did not deserve to go like this,” Lloyd’s stepmother, Sylvia Dorn-Lloyd, told the station. “He did not deserve that.”
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the PPD’s Crash Investigation Division at 215-686-3181.
