Penn battling Brown for first in the Ivies

The Ivy League’s two most recent champions will be going at it Saturday when Penn takes on Brown at venerable Franklin Field. And to add to the occasion, yes, first place in the Ivies and the inside track on the championship will be on the line.

“Whoever wins this game is in the driver’s seat,” said Penn linebacker Zach Heller, who has 20 solo tackles and two sacks for the Quakers (5-1 overall, 3-0 Ivy League). “They have a good scheme, use a lot of funky, weird formations and run some quirky plays.

“It’s all about limiting the big play. They like to throw deep and have quick strike ability. If you’re not ready, they’ll catch you off guard.”

While Brown (4-2, 3-0) relies on its multiple sets and the passing of Joe Springer, last week’s Ivy Player of the Week, Penn is much more basic. The Quakers prefer to pound it on the ground, with Brandon Colavita (383 yards, five touchdowns) as their chief workhorse.
