Penn pupils alarmed by carjacking

UNIVERSITY CITY – City police yesterday identified the man shot and killed by University of Pennsylvania police early Sunday as a North Philadelphia teenager.

Meanwhile, Penn officials met yesterday with students concerned it took an hour to get an e-mail alert about the nearby fatal shooting of an armed carjacker.

“We can’t disseminate information until we have it,” said Pat Brennan of Penn public safety. “We can’t just text 68,000 people from a phone. Just to send it takes eight minutes.”
