People waiting for a flight at the Philadelphia International Airport will now have more than just bookstore reads to choose among for airport reading.

A new exhibit showcases literary legends from within the area.

The exhibit, “Philadelphia’s Literary Legacy: Selected Authors, Playwrights and Poets – from Writers of the Declaration of Independence to Present Day,” includes authors from Thomas Paine to Noam Chomsky that boast roots in the area.

Local librarians selected 50 authors, playwrights and poets who have history in the city.

The exhibit is in Terminal A, accessible only to ticketed passengers.

The authors in the exhibit, along with airport employees and tenants, also gave 3,000 books to two literacy programs, Philadelphia Reads and the Free Library Summer Reading Program.

Philadelphia Reads, a volunteer-driven literacy organizations, received 2,000 children’s books, whichwill be used in the group’s Book Bank Program to supply city teachers with free books for their classrooms.
