Philadelphia freedom from worst of winter blasts forecast to continue

Philadephia’s freedom from the worst of the wintry blasts slamming its neighbors to the north will continue.

Three to five inches of snow are expected Sunday night, changing to rain Monday. At the very least, forecasters expect it to be wet and messy.

New York, on the other hand, could get up to 12 inches if The Weather Channel is correct.

If.

As we all know, the storm dubbed Juno was expected to bring a foot or more of the white stuff to Philly.

It didn’t.

The blizzard that bypassed Philadelphia but gave Boston its sixth worst snowfall on record prompted the closing of business, city government, the Free Library and many other institutions.

“All for nothing,” Howard Williams, 29, who works for a heating and cooling company., told Metro the other day.

Public transit was also thrown into a snarl by inaccurate forecasts, with SEPTA Regional Rail running on a Saturday schedule.

High temps over the next five days will range from 30 to 36 with evening lows at their worst Friday with 10 degrees.

The Weather Channel says the chance of snow turning to rain Super Bowl Sunday night is 90%.

A dusting to light snow is expected Thursday night, but nothing the city can’t sweat.
