Philadelphia Marketplace shows off local creativity this sunny season

Dilworth Park will be chock full of local creativity this sunny season with The Philadelphia Marketplace in full swing every Friday and Saturday, now through June 29.

This annual pop-up outside of City Hall highlights a revolving list of small businesses from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware offering up an array of goods spanning handmade artwork, home goods, plants and more, from noon to 6 p.m. on select dates.

“The Philadelphia Marketplace is a great way to get outside, enjoy the sunshine and kick off the weekend in the city,” said CEO Thomas Bauer in a statement. “This pop-up market is so easy to get to and perfectly placed in the heart of bustling Center City.”

Bauer continued: “The vendor list always provides great shopping opportunities and you can get such unique and cool products. It is also so great to support so many small businesses, both local and from the tristate area. I cannot wait to see what vendors come out this year.”

In 2024, the Philadelphia Marketplace will have a focus on new plants and produce vendors with fresh flowers and houseplants sprinkled throughout Dilworth Park among all of the other varied makers on the docket. The Market will hold up to 20 vendors every Friday and Saturday, with the list rotating throughout the season with fresh faces and new inventory interchanging regularly.

The early list of vendors for the spring season so far includes Bees & Wax Soap & Candle Co. (handcrafted soap bars, candles, bath and body products), Harleysville Beekeeper (locally sourced raw honey), Sean’s Cakes By The Pound (homemade pound cakes, cookies, cupcakes and other treats), The Poster Klub (holographic posters, pins and keychains), The Bachelor’s Chest (men’s grooming products, skincare, beard care, fragrances and more), Wild Ones Collections (artistic and scientific displays made from ethically sourced insects) and much more.

While there, Philadelphians can also take a spin in the Rothman Roller Rink as well, which opened last month. As a release notes, the colorful, retro-inspired rink will feature a vibrant checkboard floor and an overhead art installation of multicolored fabric, which was created by Philadelphia-based Lucky Dog Studio. Admission will be $8 for children 10 and younger and $10 for adults, and skate rental is $6.

And while there, Dilworth Park’s Air Grille Garden is also open with a menu of roller rink-inspired snacks and at the bar, cocktails made with Haku Vodka and Tres Generaciones Tequila will be available for adults 21 and older.
