The Philadelphia Police have announced the arrest of a fellow officer after he was found allegedly driving while intoxicated, when he crashed his personal vehicle into several parked cars early Wednesday morning.
According to law enforcement officials, the incident occoured at about 5:26 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2, when Officer Nicholas Harper, 40, who was off-duty, was involved in a crash along the 1600 block of North Sixth Street.
Police say Harper, who is a four-year veteran of the force and assigned to the city’s 22nd police district, had struck several parked cars.
According to law enforcement officials, officers responding to the crash immediately observed “signs of impairment” upon making contact with Harper.
The officer was arrested for DUI after being taken in for blood tests.
