Two men were killed in separate West Philadelphia shootings, and six other people were wounded by gunfire across the city over the weekend.

Police said a man was shot once in his back at around 4:30 p.m. Saturday on the second floor of a property on the 300 block of N. 52nd Street. He died less than three hours later at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, according to authorities. His age was not immediately known, and police did not provide an update Sunday.

At around 2 p.m. on the same day, about a mile away, a 34-year-old man was gunned down on the 5200 block of Jefferson Street, investigators said. He has not been publicly identified.

No arrests were reported in the immediate aftermath of either homicide.

Through Saturday, 219 people had been killed in Philadelphia this year, a 22% decrease compared to the same date in 2022, according to police department data.

An 18-year-old man was shot after he chased down three gunmen who had just robbed him at around 10:45 a.m. Sunday morning at 9th and Pike streets in the Hunting Park neighborhood, investigators said.

The shooting occurred nearby on the 3900 block of N. Darien Street, according to police. The victim suffered two gunshot wounds to his stomach, and he is expected to survive, authorities said.

Officers apprehended a man at the scene and recovered three guns, police said. No further details were available.

In Northeast Philadelphia, a driver crashed early Sunday morning while trying to take a shooting victim to the hospital, investigators said.

Police said a 23-year-old man was shot in his right thigh on the 7700 block of Castor Avenue in Rhawnhurst. He got into a car and at around 1:50 a.m., while en route to Jeanes Hospital, the vehicle crashed into a wall at Cottman and Central avenues, according to authorities.

The gunshot victim was later listed in stable condition. Police said the driver was uninjured.

A 21-year-old man showed up to Lankenau Medical Center at around 1:45 a.m. after he was shot in his foot on Felton Street, just north of Market Street, in West Philadelphia, authorities said. He was treated and released a short time later.

Investigators said a 28-year-old man is in critical condition after he was shot while trying to stop a carjacker early Sunday morning in East Falls.

The shooting took place at around 12:30 a.m. on the 3400 block of Sunnyside Avenue, according to police. The victim tried to stop a man from stealing his Hyundai Sonata when another suspect emerged and shot him in the chest, authorities said. Detectives said the pair fled in a white sedan.

On Saturday, just before 6:30 p.m., someone shot a 20-year-old man twice in his chest on the 2200 block of Cecil B. Moore Avenue in North Philadelphia, police said. He was transported to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

In Fairhill, a 44-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery at around 5:30 a.m. Saturday at 5th and Cambria streets, according to authorities. He sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and drove himself to Temple University Hospital, where he was later listed in stable condition.
