Philadelphia woman charged in Radnor crash involving two teens

A Philadelphia woman has been charged in connection with a crash that seriously injured two teenagers in Radnor last month.

Tanisha Johnson, 34, of the 7100 block of Theodore St., is charged with two counts of recklessly endangering another person, and traffic citations, including driving a vehicle at unsafe speed and operating with unsafe tires.

The accident occurred Oct. 31 on the 600 block of Conestoga Road, which winds near an underpass for Interstate 476. Authorities said Johnson’s car veered off the road and struck two teenagers waiting for the school bus on the side of the road, then continued on and struck a house. Johnson stopped at the scene.

Radnor Police Sgt. Andy Block said Johnson has had her driver’s license for less than a year, which may have contributed to the crash. “It could be a factor obviously, not having a lot of experience,” he said.

Johnson was arraigned this morning before a district court judge. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 3.

One of the victims was released the day after the accident, Block said, but the second remains hospitalized at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition.
