Philadelphia work force featured in new report

The Central Philadelphia Development Corp. will release results of a “Where City Residents Work” study today that found, among many other things, that Center City’s 216,937 private-sector jobs pay $12.1 billion in salaries.

CCD Executive Director Paul Levy said major lessons learned include: the higher the level of education, the lower the unemployment rate; the time is right for a business-tax reform push; and how, “to stay competitive, Philadelphia must … make infrastructure, transportation and public-space improvements that reinforce our largest employment nodes.”

“This is the Holy Grail we’ve been looking for,” he said.
