Fall is officially upon Philadelphia. As folks look for the perfect seasonal activities, the Philadelphia Zoo provides a bit of something for everyone this month.
‘Zoo Done It?’
Spooky season is here, and the Philadelphia Zoo is set to host an adults-only mystery scavenger hunt with a never-before-offered grand prize.
On Saturday, Oct. 5, after the Philadelphia Zoo has closed its doors, it will briefly reopen at 5:30 p.m., allowing patrons to begin a new, mysterious adventure where past and present collide. Guests will find themselves on a captivating quest to solve a centuries-old mystery as clues are scattered throughout the zoo. Exhibits will tell forgotten tales of animals, keeps, and the Zoo’s founding as the mystery unravels.
Ghostly apparitions of the Zoo’s former inhabitants will provide guidance, helping guests decipher cryptic messages and continue chipping away at clues to unveil the truth behind the Zoo’s greatest mystery, the Solitude House.
Participants will have the opportunity to win an exciting grand prize, which includes a private tour of The Solitude House by Zoo Docents, two flex passes to the Red Rum Theatre, and a behind-the-scenes experience for four to six guests (availability pending).
“Philadelphia Zoo is excited to debut Zoo Done It?’ just in time for spooky season,” said Zoo Director of Marketing Patrick McMaster. “This is a first-of-its-kind event at the Zoo – and part of new after-hours and grown-up programming. The winning team will have the opportunity to receive a behind-the-scenes tour of The Solitude and experience its history and spooky side close-up. We have never offered the public a chance to win a private tour of this famous American historical landmark.”
Boo at the Zoo
The Philadelphia Zoo’s annual Halloween extravaganza, Boo at the Zoo, makes its return for three fun-filled weekends filled with costumes, fall treats, and festive fun.
Gather your party of ghouls and goblins, don your favorite costume, and bring a bag to trick-or-treat throughout the Zoo grounds. Be sure to visit all the Zoo’s animal exhibits to see which animals may be nibbling on pumpkins or otherwise enjoying Halloween-themed activities.
Guests can enjoy festive fall offerings, fun children’s activities, seasonal décor, plenty of photo opportunities, and more. Philadelphia Zoo members can enjoy early access beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, Sunday, Oct. 20, and Saturday, Oct. 27. The Zoo is also offering a new sensory friendly morning presented by ABA Centers of Pennsylvania on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
