Red October is officially here. The Philadelphia Phillies clinched their first playoff berth since 2011 and with it comes a euphoric sense of excitement. Just how far can Rob Thomson’s team go? We’re about to find out, but Vegas already has an idea.
Coming out of the gate, the Phillies are underdogs. However, they went 4-3 against St Louis this season, which should at least inspire confidence that the series is a winnable one. The matchup is significant because of course, the last time the Phils made the postseason, back in 2011, they faced the Cardinals.
A lot has changed since then, but the team endured a wobbly end to the season that saw them do everything in their power to not make the playoffs. St Louis won the NL Central with 93 wins and while the Phils were only 6 wins back, their path to the postseason was far more tumultuous.
However, if you think the Phils can go all the way this year, then this is the bet you want. A 25/1 return on the Phils to win it all is salivating. This team is stacked offensively and if they can catch fire, avoid defensive errors, and find some bullpen stability, who’s to say they can’t make a run?
If you think this team is good enough to have a shot at winning the World Series, this bet at least protects you from some last-minute heartbreak. An 11/1 wager here still gives you a pretty strong return all things considered. They’d need to beat the Cardinals, the Braves, and either the Padres, Mets, or Dodgers. It’s not impossible.
