Phillies’ Kyle Kendrick has Series ring stolen

Phillies pitcher Kyle Kendrick became the second member of the baseball team’s organization to have a 2008 World Series ring stolen when the $15,000 piece of bling was among items taken from his Mount Vernon, Wash., home last week, according to published reports.

Thieves defeated the home’s security system and stole such a large volume of sports memorabilia and electronics equipment that investigators speculate the burglary took hours. “We’re thinking thieves were in the house for quite a bit of time,” said Mount Vernon police Lt. Chris Cammock. “They could’ve been there all day or through the night.”

Authorities estimate the break-in occurred between March 28 and the morning of April 1, when neighbors noticed an open garage door and called 911.

The home is for sale and police are checking out attendees of a March 27 open house, as well as real estate locals. Police are also investigating links to another burglary.

Kendrick’s ring was insured, but police understand the value of such things. “I think for Kendrick’s sake it’s probably priceless,” Cammock said.
