Phillies look to continue hitting at Coors Field, into All-Star break

The Phillies were really good.

Then they sucked.

Looks like they’re good again.

After winning their third consecutive series against the Braves earlier this week, thanks in large part to a stretch that saw the team smack 24 homers in 15 games and lead all of baseball in hits (169), Philly is inching closer to the .500 mark as the All-Star break approaches next week.

One series remains for the club before everyone (except for Philly’s lone All Star Odubel Herrera) gets to take a few days off —a four-pack of games in Colorado against the Rockies.

It’s good timing for the Phillies, who will look to continue their solid hitting in the most hitter-friendly park in baseball.

Thursday things kick off at 8:40 p.m.as Adam Morgan makes a spot start, moving over from the bullpen to relieve Aaron Nola — who is being skipped over as he rests up for the season’s second half. Morgan has been less than stellar this season, with a 1-6 mark and 6.31 ERA on the year. He’ll be opposed by Chad Bettis (5-5, 5.85 ERA).

Game 2 on Friday night, an 8:10 first pitch, pits a revitalized Vince Velasquez (7-2, 3.34 ERA) against Colorado’s Jon Gray (5-4, 4.81 ERA).

On the weekend, two hot young arms take the hill as Jerad Eickhoff (6-9, 3.30 ERA) faces lefty Tyler Anderson (0-3, 3.03 ERA) Saturday at 8:40 p.m., and Zach Eflin (1-2, 4.30 ERA after his first career complete game Tuesday) is opposed by Tyler Chatwood (8-4, 3.08 ERA)Sunday at 4:10.

Philadelphia has four days off before returning home to host the Mets July 15.
