If you can stomach more Phillies baseball, the team are back in action tonight against the Atlanta Braves. Possibly the worst possible opponent for the Phils right now after grinding to a dramatic win over Toronto after almost fumbling the game, the Braves will be looking to sweep the Phillies as they did a week ago. The series starts tonight with a pitching fans’ dream.
The Phillies are now back in the thick of the wildcard race. They have a two-game lead over the Brewers and absolutely cannot afford to let momentum slip now. They did well to pull back from the brink of collapse against the Blue Jays and keep the wheels on the wagon. But the Braves are no easy foe, and neither is the pitcher in game 1.
These two battled it out six days ago and will now do so again. The last game was a 7-2 rout of the Phils by Atlanta, but it wasn’t really on the shoulders of Ranger Suarez, who allowed 2 hits and 1 run before Seranthony Dominguez did anything but ’relieve’ (shock).
Max Fried is no joke and his 2.52 ERA speaks for itself. That number jumps to 3.5 when facing the Phillies this season across 3 starts, but
The pitching matchup says it all here. Before last Friday’s game was derailed due to Dominguez, there were only 3 runs scored between the two teams. I think playing the under is the safest way to bet this game.
