Aaron Nola (4-1, 3.20 ERA) vs Jordan Hicks (2-0, 1.59 ERA)
Another clash of gladiators at the mound sees Aaron Nola and Jordan Hicks square off. Nola has bounced back well from his disastrous 2024 debut. He’s struck out 7+ in each of his last 3 starts, with a season-high of 10 K’s last time out. The Giants rank 11th in strikeouts per game, so we could well see some more magic from Nola here against a team also only ranking 17th in team batting average.
Across from Nola will be Jordan Hicks, who has unsurprisingly been excellent up to this point. He’s only allowed 7 runs through 34 innings and has gone 5+ innings in every start. This is a real fire meets ice matchup tonight so it will be interesting to see if the Phillies can find a way to unsettle one of the best in the league.
The total for this game does feel low, but these are two of the best starting pitchers in the league on their day and it’s not like the Giants are bringing a surging offense to the table, batting 3rd-worst in the league over their last 3 games.
This feels like a Phillies win, but I like parlaying an outright victory with the UNDER here at odds of +175.
I hate to bet against Alec Bohm, but he’s now riding a 15-game hit streak which is still the longest active streak in all of Baseball. Jordan Hicks might be one of the toughest pitchers he’s faced all year, and there’s still some value on UNDER 0.5 hits because of how consistent he’s been this past month. The odds for Alec Bohm to go hitless are +200, giving us some real upside.
