Phillies win again, refuse to give up on 2012 season

Seven is the Phillies’ lucky number these days.

When Jimmy Rollins came to the plate, with two outs in the 10th inning, he had Milwaukee right where he wanted them. The game was tied 6-6 and Rollins stroked a game-winning single to send the Phillies into hysterics again.

That is four straight dramatic, come-from-behind wins — three of the walk-off variety — for the home nine. The final score in the last three victories: 7-6. Suddenly, the Phillies look like the team that captured five straight NL East crowns.

“It shows we haven’t given up,” Chase Utley said. “I like our chances moving forward.”

Michael Schwimer (2-1) earned the win despite allowing an unearned run in the 10th. Erik Kratz, who hit a two-run homer Tuesday night to spark a six-run eighth-inning rally, delivered with a clutch double with John Mayberry Jr. on first base. Then, Carlos Ruiz stepped in as a pinch-hitter and smacked a sacrifice fly to tie it.

“We were playing kind of rough at the end today and stayed with it and came back. That was good,” manager Charlie Manuel said. “We did enough to get by. Things are starting to work for us.”
