This summer, Shakespeare in Clark Park celebrates its 20th anniversary with the production of a Shakespearian classic with a bold musical twist.
From acclaimed writer and composer Jay Eddy, ‘A Bottom’s Dream’, a wildly Queer retelling of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, comes to Clark Park (1101 S 45th St.), re-introducing theater lovers with the familiar tale while treating them to a thrilling new experience. The show will take center stage in front of 7,000 audience members in the Bowl of Clark Park, for a limited five-performance release from Wednesday, July 23 through Sunday, July 27 (start time is 7 p.m.).
The progressive production features a cast of Barrymore Award-recognized talents like Rayne, Jenna Kuerzi, Amy Boehly, Camille E. Young, Dante Bratelli and Leo Mock, along with a Youth Ensemble of local community members and stars Philly drag sensation Lili St. Queer as Titania, the Queen of Fairies. A musician, comedian, educator, DJ, and, of course, theatre artist, their passion for the theatrical arts is well represented.

A co-founder of Jaffe St. Queer Productions, St. Queer has overseen the production of several Broadway parodies including ‘Gay Miz’ and ‘The Lizard of Oz,’ in addition to the creation of an original musical, ‘Eric & Lili’s Night at the Museum,’ in partnership with Penn Museum.
With the creative talents of St. Queer, Jay Eddy, and the brilliant case playing a wild cavalcade of characters, ‘A Bottom’s Dream’ will take the audience on a thrilling, theatrical fever dream filled with daring performances, double entendres, and accompanied by a dynamic, original score.
Ahead of the upcoming performance, enter for a chance to win the Ultimate Midsummer Picnic. Shakespeare in Clark Park is raffling off three “dreamy” Picnic Baskets for three lucky winners. The winners will enjoy wine, snacks, and goodies provided by local vendors to elevate their viewing experience and make it an absolute dream of an evening.
