Philly goes for the Guinness World Record with a Soul Train Line down the Art Museum steps

Does Philly have enough soul?

If you love dancing in public with a group full of strangers, today is your day! Local radio station 100.3 WRNB is organizing a Soul Train Line on the steps of the Art Museum of Philadelphia in an attempt to set the Guinness World Record and honor the late Don Cornelius at the same time.

Cornelius, the legendary host of the dance show, died last month. The idea started on Facebook as a way to honor Cornelius by setting a world record. According to Guinness, the current record is 211, set by Berkeley High School in California back in November.

Unlike spontaneous and flash-mob like Soul Train lines in Chicago and New York last week, Philadelphia’s effort is more organized.

The expected list of attendees includes Mayor Michael Nutter, radio host Dyana Williams and other local radio personalities, according to the station. So Philly, let’s see your soul. The event begins at 4 p.m.

Everyone bring your freaky deaky, bump, robot and, my personal favorite, the tootsie roll. As long as you don’t dance like this guy.
