Philly Home and Garden Show: What to expect for 2022

The Philly Home and Garden Show is next month, and over the three-day event, there will be plenty of reasons to stop by — hundreds of reasons, in fact. 

From Friday, Feb. 25, to Sunday, Feb. 27, Philadelphians with a green thumb and a knack for home goods will be able to peruse through over 200 exhibitors ranging from home décor and furniture; garden and landscaping; kitchen and bath; plus food and beverage. There will be a bit of star power this year as well with Mina Starsiak Hawk from the HGTV series “Good Bones” making an appearance on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 1 p.m. While there, Hawk will be sharing some of her best home improvement and renovation tips with attendees. 

Other celebrity guest appearances include Jeff Devlin from “Stone House Revival” on that Friday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at noon, as well as the host of “Professional Grade,” “Yard Crashers,” and “Vacation House for Free,” Matt Blashaw on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. 

“We’re excited to be back offering the community the opportunity to do face-to-face shopping with local experts,” said show manager Jenna Naffin in a statement. “Many of us have been spending more time at home. If you’ve been wondering how to redesign your kitchen or bath, spruce up your backyard for entertaining, or how to create your new home office, you need to be here.”

“Here’s your chance to talk to business owners in person, shop, compare, and save with hundreds of vendors all under one roof,” she continued. “Don’t forget to make a fun family day out of it. Plan your visit around our expert and celebrity stage presentations, free DIY workshops, wine, and whiskey tastings, and more.”

As Naffin hinted, there will be plenty of opportunities to explore different avenues of home and garden living. 

Highlights for the Philly Home and Garden Show include the Get Growing Section, which features over 3,000 square feet of garden inspiration for your outdoor space. While there, you can sit back and sip on some vino in the relaxing wine garden from the Renegade Winery. The space also includes a garden market, flower shop and succulent bar. 

The Floral and Hardy Garden Market and Succulent Bar will feature some of the most unique décor and gift items to spruce up your yard, plus Philadelphians can customize their own succulent at the DIY Succulent Bar. The pop-up flower market on the other hand will allow patrons to take home beautiful, fresh-cut arrangements by Cameron Peters Floral Design and you can also register for one of the Cameron Peters’s floral workshops throughout the weekend to learn the artistry behind the floral design process.

This year, according to a news release, will also feature an ‘Ask the Gardener’ booth thanks to the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society in which attendees will be able to ask questions and get advice from professionals. There will also be a ‘Make It, Take It’ workshop. This year’s slew of workshops is presented by Little.Tall.Rulers where attendees will have the opportunity to work directly with local designers on a variety of DIY projects.

DIY projects include candle making, mini sunburst wall hangings, clay earrings, the art of charcuterie, hand-stamped vintage spoon plant stakes, melt and pour soap, sugar scrubs, paint your own cookies and a clean/dirty dishwasher magnet. 

The Barking Lot + Doggy Fashion Show is another fan favorite of the event, and it provides some good. While our furry friends strut their stuff in fashion show on Saturday at 3 p.m., a portion of sales from this pet market filled with the most popular treats and accessories benefits the PSPCA directly.

Those looking for a drink can head to the Spirited Backyard from 2D Distillery. The whiskey backyard will feature yard games (think giant Jenga, checkers, tick tack toe and cornhole), a selection of whiskeys, of course, and guests can also join in on a Yappy Hour on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. in support of the PSPCA.

The show will also feature a ‘Reimagine Your Workspace’ section where you can remodel your work-from-home office space with traditional and modern inspiration from the design corner (presented by Ethan Allen); a ‘Homes That Roam’ section (presented by Campers Inn) to check out the latest and greatest in RVs; the Philly’s Favorite Market featuring one-of-a-kind décor and gifts from local artisans and retailers where you can shop anything from antiques to original art to homemade pieces to finely crafted items; and a ‘Do You Dig It?’ section where you can join experts to upgrade your gardening experience, plus learn more about edible landscaping, composting, native plants and more.

On top of the events, the Philly Home and Garden Show has partnered with the Red Cross to put together a blood drive in Hall E of the Expo Center on that Friday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. to support U.S. blood banks. The partnership for this year will also feature a hiring event to recruit more staff.

As a bonus, the first 100 people to come to the show on Friday will also receive a free ticket to the American Treasure Tour, and every attendee will receive a coupon with discounts for all the fun at Arnold’s Family Fun Center, according to a release.

Finally, there will also be a designated Hero Day: Honor our local heroes on Friday, when all active and retired military, first responders, nurses, doctors and teachers will get free admission upon identification, and a SEPTA Day. If you have a SEPTA Key card, you have the key to the Philly Home and Garden Show on Friday. Present your SEPTA key at the box office for free admission.

The Philly Home and Garden Show hours are Friday, Feb. 25, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 26, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 27, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Admission is $11 for adults ($9 in advance), and free for children under age 12. Parking is free at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center (100 Station Ave. in Oaks).
