This summer, the Philadelphia region hosts big exhibitions that explore history, art, nature and mummification. Here’s just a sample of the only-in-Philly events:
» The National Constitution Center presents “Discover the Real George Washington: New Views from Mount Vernon.” Among the 100 objects on display, the first president’s famed dentures make an appearance.

» The Philadelphia Zoo’s imaginative first-time exhibition “X-tink-shun” features puppets from The Jim Henson Company, including Didi the Dodo, Igor the Tiger and other adorable critters representing extinct or endangered animals. They perform, lead parades and educate visitors about endangered species.

»One of the world’s largest collections of mummies comes to The Franklin Institute Science Museum this summer. The discoveries revealed in “Mummies of the World” include one of the world’s oldest infant mummies, an entire mummified family and Egyptian animal mummies. » For “A World of Things: The Mercer Museum A to Z,” the recently expanded, castle-like Mercer Museum highlights items from its own 40,000-piece collection of tools and artifacts from 18th- and 19th-century America that have rarely been displayed.
