Beat the heat at Philly pop up gardens and public landscapes

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s (PHS) Pop Up Gardens and other PHS public gardens and landscapes are now in full bloom across the region, offering the perfect haven for those looking to escape the heat this summer.

The PHS Pop Up Gardens on South Street and in Manayunk offer a full lineup of refreshing cocktails, mocktails, rainbow-hued frozen drinks, shotsicles (an alcoholic twist on the popsicle), along with delicious bites. Philadelphians and visitors can bask in the sunshine or enjoy shaded areas throughout the gardens. Both gardens have televisions, making them a perfect venues to watch the Phillies or Summer Olympics.

Rodin Museum

PHS’s gardens along the exterior of the Rodin Museum offer another excellent venue to seek out sun, shade, or a seated respite while exploring the city’s iconic Ben Franklin Parkway. The Rodin Museum also opens its Garden Bar from 4 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday evenings, making it a perfect venue for your next night out.  

Azalea Garden

For those seeking a green summer shade garden, the Azalea Garden offers plenty of tree-covered shade, lush green plantings, and annuals, making it the perfect backdrop for picnicking. Bring your blanket, snacks, and experience this beautiful garden tucked behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

PHS Meadowbrook Farm

Venture just outside the city to experience PHS Meadowbrook Farm, PHS’s picturesque gardens featuring a historic estate. This property features several unique garden “rooms” with a cottagecore aesthetic, making it the perfect venue for a Bridgerton-inspired photoshoot.
