Summer will be here before we know it, and for those interested in attending a summer camp, Philly has more than 100 to choose from across the city.
From arts and crafts, to sports, educational programs and field trips, there is something for everyone in Philly this summer.
Registration opens Thursday
Philadelphia Parks & Recreation will open registrations for its 2025 summer camp season starting this week. Returning campers can register starting Thursday, Feb. 27, while new campers can secure their spots beginning Monday, March 3. Families are encouraged to register early, as spots are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
“We’re excited to welcome campers back for a summer of fun, friendship, and exploration,” said Susan Slawson, Parks & Recreation Commissioner. “Our camps bring energy to neighborhoods, creating spaces for kids to learn, play, and make lifelong memories.”
In addition to general day camps, there are specialty camps available, which offer unique experiences in performing and visual arts, nature exploration, and sports for children with specific interests. Camps will operate from July 7 to Aug. 15.
Those interested can use the Parks & Rec’s Finder app (phila.gov/parks-rec-finder) to peruse available camps in their neighborhood.
Making a splash
Philadelphia Parks & Recreation is also kicking off lifeguard recruitment for pools across the city. Pay starts at $16 per hour, with the potential to earn more. In addition, lifeguard positions are eligible to receive a $1,000 end-of-season bonus for those who meet the April 15, deadline, or a $500 bonus for those who submit applications before May 15.

Eligible applicants must be at least 16 years old, pass the lifeguard screening test, and complete a Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course. The city provides free training and Red Cross certification for those ages 16-24 interested in becoming lifeguards.
“We are providing much-needed jobs, as there is a critical need for lifeguards to help keep our pools open and our communities safe this summer,” said Slawson.
