For the first time since 1998, the City of Philadelphia will host women’s professional basketball.

Unrivaled, a women’s three-on-three basketball league co-founded by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, will make its inaugural tour stop in the city, the league announced on Thursday.

Taking place at the Xfinity Mobile Arena, the home of the Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia Flyers, four of the league’s eight teams will play back-to-back games in Unrivaled’s standard format on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026.

“The energy and dedication of everyone who helped bring this tour stop to life, combined with the passion of Philadelphia’s sports fans, made the city the perfect stage for Unrivaled,” Unrivaled President Alex Bazzell said. “We look forward to playing in front of the city’s eager women’s basketball fans at a famed arena known for its electric fan experience.”

The initiative to bring the league to Philadelphia, titled “Philly is Unrivaled Presented by Xfinity,” succeeded in part thanks to support from Mayor Cherelle Parker and The Philly Sisters, a collective co-founded by comedian Wanda Sykes and her wife, Alex Niedbalski-Sykes, that successfully advocated for a WNBA team to be established in Philadelphia. This initiative builds on the league’s recently announced multi-year partnership with Xfinity.

The announcement came as a large crowd assembled at LOVE Park in Center City, where the league was joined by special guests, including Parker. As for who will play in these games, the matchups will be revealed once the schedule is released in November. Additional community activations and events will be announced in the coming months, leading up to “Philly is Unrivaled”.

“Philadelphia is the city of firsts,” said Parker. “So it makes perfect sense that the Unrivaled League picked our historical city, with unmatched sports enthusiasts, as its first tour stop. We’re excited to kick off our 2026 celebrations by first welcoming this league of women that continues to blaze trails of progress in sports, as well as investments off the court.”
