At first, a bank robber didn’t succeed yesterday near Kensington and Allegheny avenues, so he changed into a Phillies hat and T-shirt and successfully tried again in Center City less than two hours later. The FBI and police distributed pictures of the Phillies bandit shortly thereafter, though.
In the first case, he gave a “threatening demand note” to a teller at the Bank of America branch on East Allegheny Avenue around 12:15 p.m. He left without the money he wanted but by 2 p.m., he presented a note at the PNC Bank branch at Wills Eye Hospital, leaving with an undisclosed amount of loot.
He is described as a 5-foot-9 white man in his 40s, medium build with graying or salt-and-pepper hair. Though he relied only on threatening notes, he’s considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call the Philadelphia Police Department or the FBI at 215-418-4000. There may be a reward for information leading to his arrest.
