On Saturday, Sept. 17, local restaurant and beer hall, Brauhaus Schmitz, celebrated Oktoberfest for the eighth year in a row on South Street. At 2 p.m. the keg was “tapped” by owner Doug Hager, which officially kicked off the celebrations. Guests drank boot steins filled with beer and munched on Bavarian favorites like pretzels and sausages — dining at picnic tables underneath a massive tent that ran from 7th to 8th Streets.

If you thought this event was fun, you most definitely need to check out an even bigger celebration being organized by Brauhaus Schmitz in October at 23rd Street Armory.
