PHOTOS: Give Kids Sight Day 2017

On Saturday, Oct. 21, over 1,200 kids came out to Wills Eye Hospital for Give Kids Sight Day 2017. Presented by Public Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY), Wills Eye Hospital, Eagles Charitable Foundation and Essilor Vision Foundation, the event gives kids free eye exams and glasses (no insurance needed).

Attendees also enjoyed free snacks, books to take home, coloring activities, visits from the Eagles drumline and Eagles cheerleaders and more.

“Give Kids Sight Day 2017 was a resounding success!  Nearly 1,200 children in the region had their eyes checked, and if a problem was detected, volunteer eye doctors from Wills Eye Hospital and several other practices prescribed two free pairs of glasses,” says Colleen McCauley Health Policy Director for Public Citizens for Children and Youth.  “Being able to see correctly is critical for a child to reach their full potential in school and life, and getting glasses on a kid’s face is such a simple fix.”

If you missed the event and your child needs eye care, you can contact PCCY for assistance at pccy.org.
