Archbishop Charles Chaput this afternoon led the 30th annual Interfaith Prayer Service in commemoration of slain civil rights activist Martin Luther King, Jr.
The theme this year of the ceremony, held at Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church in East Mount Airy, was “Pressing on Toward the Dream: We Move with Faith.”
Speakers from a number of denominations – including the church pastor Monsignor David Benz, Rabbi Tshura August of the Jewish Hospice Network and Rev. Steven Lawrence of White Rock Baptist Church – presented scripture passages followed by brief reflections.
The event was sponsored by the Secretariat for Evangelization and the Office for Black Catholics of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
