PHOTOS: Outstanding in Her Field 2017

Over the weekend, the Philadelphia chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier hosted their second annual Outstanding in Her Field dinner at the Inn at Grace Winery (50 Sweetwater Rd., Glen Mills) with over 120 people in attendance.

This year’s honoree was local food legend, Ann Karlen, whose career has been founded on what it means to be “farm-to-table.”

She founded Fair Food in 2000, a non-profit dedicated to building a local food economy for the Delaware Valley region through connecting local farmers to the Philly marketplace.

In 2003, she opened the Fair Food Farmstand, Philly’s first all-local food retail grocery store at Reading Terminal Market.

“Sunday night’s event brought together all members of the local food community, from farmers and chefs/ restaurateurs to small business owners and food journalists to celebrate Ann Karlen’s accomplishments,” says  Les Dames d’Escoffier Philadelphia Event Co-Chair and President Natanya DiBona.

“It was also wonderful to see the generations of our members gathered for the meal, from founding members and trailblazing Philadelphia restaurateurs,  Susanna Foo and Kathleen Mulhern, to the next generation of members such as James Beard nominated chef and restaurateur, Ange Brance of Sate Kampar,” DiBona adds.
