Valley Youth House, in partnership with the Philadelphia Department of Human Services, Five Below and iHeartRadio concluded their Summer 2017 Backpack Challenge on Tuesday August 22, 2017.
The initiative gives away 2,000 backpacks and supplies to local foster children during a ceremony at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
Every summer The Backpack Challenge raises funds and collects essential back to school items for foster care youth. In 2015, new partner cities included Atlanta, Baltimore, Cleveland and Detroit and gave away 10,000 backpacks in total.
By 2016, Houston, Nashville, Raleigh/Durham and Washington, DC teamed up with Valley Youth House as well. Over 28,000 backpacks were collected across all markets thanks to the help of Five Below.
