Philadelphia’s internationally acclaimed, award-winning theater company, Pig Iron Theatre Company, presents the world premiere of ‘Franklin’s Key,’ a theatrical sci-fi adventure set in the City of Brotherly Love.

Written by Dan Rothenberg and Robert Quillen Camp, the show explores Benjamin Franklin’s legacy in a brand new setting, a magical alternate reality, with hidden discoveries where Franklin’s undiscovered technology has been hidden underneath some of Philadelphia’s most treasured landmarks for centuries. Watch as sibling high school prodigies Temple, played by Jameka Monet Wilson, and Arturo, played by Alton Alburo, find themselves racing against time to protect Franklin’s secret inventions.

Founded in 1995 in Philadelphia, the Pig Iron Theatre Company is no stranger to genre-defying works, but ‘Franklin’s Key’ marks a significant shift, embracing a more fantastical, family-friendly approach to storytelling than the works often seen previously. ‘Franklin’s Key’ will run from Tuesday, June 3, to Sunday, June 29, at Plays & Players Theatre, with Opening Night set for Wednesday, June 11.

‘Franklin’s Key’ is sure to thrill, especially aesthetically, thanks to Obie Award-winning Special Effects Designer Skylar Fox, known for his work in ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ on Broadway.

For those in search of a more sensory-friendly performance, Pig Iron Theatre Company is offering a “relaxed” version of ‘Franklin’s Key’ on June 12, at 7 p.m. and an open captioned performance on June 28, at 2 p.m. There will also be daytime performances available for group bookings, with flexible showtimes, plus potential post-show talkbacks featuring the artistic staff, and on-site concessions.
