2 women sought in Point Breeze killing

Detectives are attempting to identify two women after a man was fatally shot Monday evening inside a corner store in Point Breeze, police said.

Tyreese Jerry, 35, was shot multiple times just before 6:40 p.m. at Federal Deli Market, located at 20th and Federal streets, investigators said. Jerry, who lived in the Parkside neighborhood, was taken to Jefferson University Hospital, where he died just before 8 p.m., according to the PPD.

Police on Tuesday released surveillance images and video showing the two women, saying both are known to frequent the corner store. The shooting allegedly stemmed from an altercation inside the business.

Investigators described the shooter as a 5-foot 2-inch tall woman between 23 and 25 years old who has braids and was wearing dark gray crocks and black pants with holes in the legs at the time of the incident. Officers recovered her hooded sweatshirt at the scene, the PPD said.

The other woman, described as a “person of interest,” is a 5-foot 9-inch woman in her late 20s who was wearing white sandals, black pants with holes in the knees and thighs and a denim jacket, authorities said.

Since the beginning of the year, 95 people have been killed in homicides in Philadelphia, down 37% from the same date in 2023, according to police data.
