Police: 10-year-old crashed stolen pickup into five parked cars during West Philly joyride

A 10-year-old boy allegedly stole a pickup truck this afternoon and crashed it into five parked cars in West Philadelphia.

A man told police that he parked his white 2001 Ford 2500 Series truck on the 6200 block of Market Street shortly before 1 p.m. while unloading furniture from an apartment. He claims that’s when the suspect, a 10-year-old boy, took the keys from the vehicle’s rear door and sped off.

The child allegedly drove the truck for about a block before crashing it into five parked vehicles. No injuries were reported. Police said neighbors detained the boy on 62nd Street near Market Street until officers arrived. He will be charged with auto theft and related offenses, according to investigators.
