Police announce arrest in Mt. Airy slaying

Philadelphia police have announced an arrest in the brutal slaying of an 85-year-old in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia.

Leroy Wilson, 37, is charged with murder, burglary, robbery, identity theft and related offenses in the homicide of Regina Brunner. Shewas found dead by her son in her home on the 300 block of East Roumfort Road. Her throat was slashed.

Wilson is described as a local handyman who had done work for Brunner, according to 6ABC. He was identified from surveillance footageafter using Brunner’s ATM card, the station reported.

Brunner’s car, a 2007 Toyota Corolla, was discovered Tuesday by two rookie cops on their second unsupervised shift on North Stillman Street near Allegheny Avenue.

Police say Wilson’s DNA was recovered from the car, as well as from a laptop located at another location after police served a search warrant, the station reported.
